Following a breakout year in 2024, Dublin’s Dose return with their highly anticipated second single, Parallelogram, released today, February 14th. The band – comprised of Lizzie Fitzpatrick (Bitch Falcon, coolgirl, 7of9), Lauren Heron (Merpire), Aoife Spratt, and Nicki Meehan – continue to push the boundaries of dream pop, post-punk, grunge, shoegaze, and synth-pop to craft a sound that is both bold and otherworldly.
Building on the success of their debut single Cuckoo, which earned praise from The GOO and was named Dan Hegarty’s Track of the Week on 2FM’s The Alternative, Parallelogram is a striking follow-up that showcases the band’s signature ethereal yet raw sound.
Speaking on the single, lead singer Lizzie Fitzpatrick shares: “The song is about being caught up in two relationships, emotionally pulled to both sides – stretching out and losing the shape of yourself. I suppose I related myself to a parallelogram – still able to keep a strong base but distorted at the sides.”
To mark the release, Dose will co-headline The Grand Social in Dublin on February 28th alongside their friends Cable Boy for a special launch gig, giving fans the first chance to hear Parallelogram live.
Accompanying the single is a hypnotic visualiser, created by Fitzpatrick herself. Featuring a collection of vintage karaoke footage, the video emerged from her fascination with the surreal, dreamlike backgrounds that accompany karaoke lyrics. “I love the karaoke backgrounds and always wondered where they came from,” she says. “I went down a deep hole on Reddit and found a user who shared their drive with about 10GB worth of old karaoke backgrounds.”
With their debut EP set for release later this year, Parallelogram is another compelling step forward for Dose as they solidify their place as one of Ireland’s most exciting new acts.
Dose play Dublin’s The Grand Social on February 28th. Tickets are on sale now from eventbrite.
