Danny Groenland set to release duet ‘World Outside’ with Holly Pereira Friday June 27th

June 16, 2025

“Meticulously executed soul/jazz… Burning Rome sizzles from start to end”. – Tony Clayton-Lea, The Irish Times

Danny Groenland is a soul singer, songwriter & flautist, making music for the feet and for the mind. His songs blend a love of melody from The Beatles, social themes from Marvin Gaye & Curtis Mayfield and an obsession with all things D’Angelo. Playing with a team of top jazz and funk players, Groenland specialises in warm vocal harmonies, flute improvisation, conscious lyrics and positive grooves.

‘World outside’ is a sweet yet melancholy love story from the future that sounds like the past. When everything seems lost, love finds a way to provide comfort and shelter from the world around us. Musically it’s a classic jazz/soul duet, with a tender bed of soft piano, intimate double bass, hushed drum accompaniment and an exquisite string section.

A father of two, Danny has remained completely independent, releasing 3 albums, 2 EPs and several collaborative singles. Album #3 ‘burning rome’ is out now.

Debut LP ‘Love Joints’ was released in late 2014 on Hipdrop Records to positive acclaim. Single ‘Sweet Lies’ has 450k plays on Spotify to date. Single ‘Believing’ feat. Grainne McCarthy is out now has 350k streams on Spotify to date. ‘Say When’ feat. French R’nB singer Osmojam was released in late 2018 – both tracks were added to RTE’s recommended playlist and received considerable national airplay. ‘Time the Healer’ feat. Fehdah & Zaska came out late 2019. Slow jam D.A.R.L.I.N.G. feat. Tolü Makay x Jamel Franklin was released in July 2020.

2021 brought the release of second album ‘The Lookout‘, featuring several standout guest singers and musicians, and EP Ceol for the Soul, a tribute to the classic Irish songs, came out in October 2021. The group launched the burning rome album live in the Sugar Club in May 2025.
