“Meticulously executed soul/jazz… From soulful summer heat (Somewhere) and Steely Dan-style silkiness (Work Out) to piano ballads (Never Going Home) and positive vibes (Chip In), Burning Rome sizzles from start to end”. – Tony Clayton-Lea — The Irish Times
“In an age when people are discouraged from fighting for freedom, humanity and a better world – it’s heartening to witness an artist put his activist spirit front and centre of his musical identity.” – Dean van Nguyen — The Dublin Inquirer
The Story of The Song:
‘somewhere‘ is a song about the homeless crisis in Dublin. The verses give opposite perspectives, from the hurried passer-by to the cold street-sleeper. Ultimately the song conveys both a helplessness and an anger that this situation is allowed to exist. Musically we’ve got jazzy piano, tasteful double bass and funky drums behind the vocals, with a cello bridge and a low whistle solo.
