“We thought we were at church!” – Jimmy Carter, Blind Boys of Alabama

“This is an amazing live band.”- John Creedon, RTÉ

Fear not Friday the thirteenth as Cork’s One Horse Pony turn it on their head with new single ‘Lucky 13’. From the muddy waters of Ireland’s deep south One Horse Pony bring you a song about seizing life’s chances and celebrating the Lucky 13.

Celebrating their own original roots music, One Horse Pony showcases acoustic virtuosity and potent vocal harmonies allied to brain-melting high-octane mayhem. Their first single ‘Muddy Waters’ from the Hot One EP was released to critical acclaim and spent five weeks on the RTE Recommends Playlist. They followed up this success with singles’ Hot One’ and 2023’s ‘Cut To Black’. As they gear up for another rousing series of shows for Cork’s Guinness Jazz Festival they decided to give the people what they want, that is, more foot stomping, body shaking, get you out of your chair music. Asking listeners to seize life, take things a little less seriously and enjoy yourself more ‘Lucky 13’ is out September 13 and will change everything you thought you knew.

Roots virtuosi One Horse Pony, whose Americana DNA might be traced to the swamp lands of Louisiana, smouldering with earthy Cajun tones and raucous intent are already veterans of Electric Picnic, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, the Kilkenny Roots Festival, Indiependence and more. They’ve performed shows with musical royalty such as The Blind Boys of Alabama on their travels. Their adventures have brought television appearances, a critically acclaimed European tour, a raucous headlining of the 7 Hills Blues Festival, their own show at the iconic Glebe Gardens venue in West Cork, as well as opening the main stage at the final Townlands Carnival.

‘Lucky 13’ was written by: Rob Foley, Kevin Morrison, Tim O’Leary and Niall Dennehy. Performed by One Horse Pony; with vocal and guitars from Rob Foley, bass guitar by Tim O’Leary, harmonica by Kevin Morrison and Drums by Chris O Sullivan. Produced and engineered by Gavin Glass and mastered by Ivan Jackman. Artwork by Molly Delahunty and Graphic design by Flashpoint Creative.
