Ciara Lawless Unveils New Album ‘Divine Intervention’ Out May 2, 2025
Described as the Irish Kate Bush, Irish singer-songwriter, Ciara Lawless releases her new Album Divine Intervention. Focus track ‘Unbreakable’ is the third release from her upcoming album, Divine Intervention which is set for release on May 2, 2025.
Blending catchy melodies with a poignant message, Divine Intervention takes listeners on a journey of self-discovery, transformation, and resilience. Divine Intervention is aptly named following a life-altering farm accident when Ciara was 6 years old. Left unable to walk for 6 months Ciara found solace in music. Learning piano and guitar became a way to heal and cope with the trauma, turning pain into creativity. From finding her artistic authenticity, broken heels, and eating disorders Ciara describes her sophomore album as “an upbeat collection of empowerment songs inspired by a childhood accident that showed her that we are all connected and with the power of people, a strong belief and blind faith we can achieve anything.” Ciara’s music reflects her love for ’80s music. She explains, “The Album is fresh and new, but by using an ’80s-inspired palette, it feels familiar and timeless.” This approach creates a unique cross-generational appeal, with Ciara’s catchy hooks and memorable melodies, this collection of songs will resonate across all ages.
The album opens with single ‘Dreams’, where do dreams go when they are not given the love to grow? The song’s message is about embracing change while taking control of your life. ‘Running’ and ‘Unbreakable’ explore the tension between fear and inner strength. After recovering from an eating disorder Ciara wrote ‘Running’ portraying the inner battle between the mind and heart when she was facing her fears whilst learning to look for the beauty amidst the chaos. Meanwhile, new single ‘Unbreakable’, written after a terrible experience in another country finds Ciara attempting to list the positive things about the environment around her, only for her to realise that the grass isn’t always greener. The message being, when we choose to love we are unbreakable and that’s the power of the universe.
‘Free To Fly’, sees the protagonist letting go of emotional burdens while ‘Pieces of My Soul’ and ‘Remedy’ delve into self-awareness and healing, recognising that pain and mistakes shape personal growth. ‘Pieces of my Soul’ is the hero’s journey of every artist and the healing power of the arts to transmute pain into art and beauty. Meanwhile, ‘Remedy’ finds Ciara ditching a broken heel to walk barefoot across the stage as she determines the need to slow down and ground herself on this journey. Title track ‘Divine Intervention’marks a turning point, hoping for a miracle and seeking guidance from a higher power. ‘My Crown and My Gowns’ is a declaration of self-worth and independence. Meanwhile, ‘After Life’ contemplates the mysteries of existence beyond death. Divine Intervention closes with ‘No Shadows in Heaven’, a moment of enlightenment and peace, symbolising the release from struggle. This sophomore album from Ciara Lawless, Divine Intervention, brings us on a journey from uncertainty to empowerment, from seeking external answers to finding clarity within.
Initially considering a life as a nun, Ciara ultimately chose to devote herself to music. She later trained in classical and opera at the Academy of Music in Tullamore, where she excelled in national and international competitions. Beginning her career as a funeral singer, she describes the role as both an honour and a profound way to connect with people. Ciara has received support from 2FM, RTÉ Radio 1, Newstalk, Red FM, Beat 102-103, Galway Bay FM, Highland Radio Shannonside, and Northern Sound as well as Hot Press Magazine. Known for her soulful voice and iconic flower head crowns that she makes herself, Ciara has made waves on the festival circuit, earning recognition as a dynamic live performer. With the release of her Debut Album, Paint My Soul, in 2024, a European Tour taking in UK, France, Germany and Portugal and a headline gig in Dublin, Ciara’s 2nd Album, Divine Intervention, out May 2, 2025, marks the next chapter in her musical evolution.
