“Phoenix” is the perfect start to a new chapter for Chris Wong, set for release this Friday, 30th May, and will be available on all streaming platforms. With this single, the Irish-Hong Kongese artist gives us a hint of what to expect in 2025. At 26, Wong’s brand of sad boy soul is poised to capture a new generation. And this year will be his biggest year of releases and shows to date.
The first taste of what is to come this year, Phoenix is an irresistible and atmospheric groove — a release of emotion built around frustration and defiance. Written as a response to the small-town mindset he grew up around in Ireland, Phoenix channels feelings rarely found in a Chris Wong song: anger and disappointment.
“You never stayed on my side. Until you saw me complete it” he sings — a sharp lyric aimed at those who say “you can’t”.
“These lyrics just poured out of me” Wong says. “There were people in my life who didn’t exactly make me feel great about pursuing music. Whether they meant it or not, their words made me question a lot. Phoenix was my response — an angry, defiant one.”

Chris has been busier than ever in his new home in Berlin. He’s played multiple shows and showcases around the city in a short space of time. Most notably recently opening for Arthur Hill on his EU Tour.
Excitingly, Chris has been added to the bill for multiple shows around Germany straight after the release of Phoenix. He’ll be supporting French band Camel Power Club. The 26 year old is set to make appearances in Munich (30/05), Berlin (03/06), Hamburg (05/06), Cologne (10/06), Frankfurt (11/06)

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland and now thriving in Berlin, Chris Wong is a Neo-Soul singer/songwriter on a promising trajectory.
The Irish/Hong-Kongese artist’s observant eye, coupled with a love for writing catchy melodies and playing a variety of instruments laid solid foundations for Chris’ early musical life.
Wong’s self-released debut single ‘Talents’ came in late 2022. Since then, five more singles have followed suit. Chris has captivated audiences across Ireland, the U.K and the U.S, even sharing stages with breakout stars such as Olivia Dean.
With 2025 rumoured to be the year Wong finally graces us with his Debut EP – it could be a very special one.
