Caitríona O’Sullivan Releases Heartfelt New Single ‘The Still of the Night’

April 24, 2025

Award-winning singer-songwriter, television personality, and fluent Irish speaker Caitríona O’Sullivan returns with a deeply personal new track, The Still of the Night, set for release on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, across all digital platforms.

Well-known to Irish audiences as a long-standing judge on TG4’s hit country music series Glór Tíre, Caitríona has spent over two decades as a familiar face on national television. But behind the screen is a rich and vibrant musical journey shaped by family, tradition, and a profound sense of place.

Born and raised in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Caitríona grew up surrounded by music in her family’s pub, The Munster Bar. That early exposure to live music would lay the foundation for a remarkable career as a performer, educator, and songwriter.

Her latest single, The Still of the Night, blends contemporary Irish folk with honest and emotional storytelling. Co-written with celebrated composer and arranger Gavin Murphy, the track was inspired by the illness and passing of Caitríona’s mother, Marion, in 2011. It also reflects the emotional strain of emigration during the Irish economic recession, touching on the longing for home, loved ones, and a time lost.

This song came from a place of love and loss,” says Caitríona. “It’s about grief, distance, and the quiet moments where memories and emotions flood in. I hope people feel something familiar and comforting in it.

Caitríona is no stranger to musical success. A first-class honours graduate in Irish and Music with a B.Mus. and M.A. in Music, she has enjoyed multiple No.1 singles on the Irish charts. Her notable releases include This Country Girl (a hit collaboration with Johnny Brady), Don’t Say Goodbye, and a viral duet of The Fields of Athenry with singer-songwriter Sina Theil, which garnered over 2 million views on YouTube.

Her performance credentials are just as impressive. From singing at the Rose of Tralee crowning live on RTÉ One in 2023, to appearing on shows like Opry le Daniel, Up for the Match, and The Phil Coulter Show, Caitríona continues to be one of Ireland’s most versatile and respected musical voices.

The Still of the Night is not only a new chapter in her songwriting but also a tribute to family, identity, and the enduring emotional power of music.

Don’t miss the release of Caitríona O’Sullivan’s The Still of the Night, available on all streaming platforms from April 29th, 2025.
