Brigid Mae Power, Maija Sofia, Tandem Felix and more to celebrate Willy Nelson at 90 in Whelan’s in aid of Aoibhneas & Peter McVerry Trust
Willie Nelson, one of the most influential singers and songwriters of his generation, celebrates his 90th birthday on April 29, and as the American legend hits this beautiful milestone, we could not think of a better way to honour him than with a live music show to launch the festivities.
For over 60 years, Willie Nelson has written some of the finest songs ever released, an incredible catalogue that represents some of the most significant works in American country and folk music. Deeply inspired by his hero Django Reinhardt, Willie has transcended the genre of country music with his unique guitar playing and his various collaborations with hundreds of other artists: from Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Neil Young, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan to Shania Twain, Wynton Marsalis, U2 and even Snoop Dogg among MANY others.
On April 28, join us to celebrate the brilliance of Willie Nelson with a night of spellbinding performances by Arrivalists, Brigid Mae Power, Cian MacCárthaigh (IMLÉ), Eileen Gogan, Fergal Edward, Joe Chester, Maija Sofia, Niall C. Lawlor, Seán Millar and Tandem Felix.
To follow Willie’s footsteps and honour his values, all proceeds from the event will go to
Aoibhneas Domestic abuse support for women and children & the Peter McVerry Trust.
The event will take place in Whelans (main venue), on Friday 28th April Tickets available from:
