Brian Foley aka Boy One has been an integral part of the Irish music scene for more years than he cares to remember. From the heady days of punk, playing with ‘the Vipers’ and supporting ‘the Jam’ and ‘the Troggs’ to doing  support tours in Britain with the ‘Boomtown Rats’ and ‘Thin Lizzy’. He then spent five years gigging and recording with the one of the greatest pop bands ever to come out of Ireland; ‘The Blades’.

With the demise of the Blades in the late 80’s, Brian took a more mellow option, and joined the jazzy, pastoral sounding band ‘The Harvest Ministers’.

Growing weary of the long roads and longer nights Brian hung up his electric bass in the 90’s. He then took up the double bass and began playing the classical music repertoire with the Dublin Symphony Orchestra and the UCD symphony orchestra. He also joined a thirteen piece big band, called ‘the Euro Big Band’ and immersed himself in the works of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and the evergreen works of the great American songbook.

During Pat Kenny’s stint as host of the Late Late Show, Brian played in the studio band and backed musicians as diverse as Rod Stewart, Michael Bolton, Andrea Corr and a host of other big names. Fast forward to 2024 and Brian is again playing with ‘The Blades’; back together since 2013.
