I Don’t Know is an existential anthem that ponders the meaning of life. Leaning more towards pop-punk compared with Blue Fish Diamond’s previous releases, the song takes you on a fast-paced psychedelic journey. Although the lyrics may seem abstract and stream of consciousness-like, there is a serious undertone to them particularly in the repeated refrain of “I don’t know what any of it means” … the narrator’s response to the question of why do we exist and what is our purpose in life?
I Don’t’ Know will be available on all major streaming platforms from Friday 29th November. It was produced by Gavin Glass at Orphan Recording Studios and it was written by Jim Murphy. The artwork for the single was designed by Cathal MacHale.
About Blue Fish Diamond
Blue Fish Diamond are a Dublin based folk rock band who have been described by Hot Press magazine as “a bit of a super-group for those in the know in the capital”. The band was founded in 2016 by Jim Murphy, who in 2014 left a 25 year career in the insurance industry to pursue music full-time.
In 2018, the band released their debut album From Dark to Light and followed this up in 2021 with their second album Frozen Stars on the Night. Their main influences include Tom Petty, R.E.M., The Beatles and Paul Simon.
Blue Fish Diamond’s music has been played on radio stations across Ireland including on national radio and they have also caught the attention of radio presenters in various European countries, the United States, Canada and Australia. One of their songs (Salvation Call) was included on a global retail playlist throughout 2019 and for part of 2020.
The band are stalwarts of the Dublin music scene and they have played at many venues around the country. In 2018, they played at Electric Picnic and they have also played at music festivals in Dublin, Cork and Monaghan.
