‘Same Mistakes‘ is a collaboration that came together very naturally. The song was originally composed years ago by Dublin Songwriter & Producer Ben Hogan (aka BENJAMYN), but he always felt that something was missing. Flash forward to a conversation with Donegal Singer-Songwriter Larabel, where they discussed similar influences – it immediately became apparent to Ben that his old composition could be the perfect playing-field for a collaboration.
‘Same Mistakes’ is about that feeling we sometimes get, often when we’re alone and our thoughts are spiralling, that we have been living in cycles that don’t serve us – and having a burst of emotion that pushes you to try and break the cycle. While the song is grounded in melancholy, it resolves with an uplifting message of not letting our mistakes defeat us.
This is an indie-electronic track, with a male and female duet offering two sides of the same coin and coming together as one united voice. BENJAMYN is both the artist and producer/instrumentalist, with Larabel’s vocal completing the symphony.
