On Wednesday 3rd of September, Saibhin hosted ‘Saibhin’s Secret Sessions’; in Big Romance on Parnell Street. This invite only event showcased her 3 new upcoming tracks, one of which was just released on Friday, 5th of September, titled ‘Killer Instinct’. Saibhin’s sound is mostly folk but it’s best described as a big fusion of sounds including rock, neo-soul, reggae, jazz and much more. Saibhin grew up with heavy influences from her Mexican-Irish heritage which can clearly be heard throughout her music.

Saibhin is known for her handmade merch and wholesome vibes and she sure did put her stamp on the beautifully decorated venue. From bunting and tapestries to handmade goodie bags for guests and written lyrics sheets to sing along with. The tone was set from the moment you walked into the room.

The 3 new tracks were played for people to enjoy, this was followed by a Q&A, hosted by Kelly Darcy, which gave Saibhin a chance to tell her story and connect with the crowd. She told stories of her trials and tribulations, how the band met, how they work together and the meanings of the songs.

But that wasn’t the end on the entertainment front, Siabhin and 2 members of the band treated the exclusive party to a stripped back acoustic performance including vocals, cello and guitar. Saibhin sang a new song as Gaeilge (the first song she’s ever written in Irish) and performed some of her much loved tracks.

This night truly set the mood for the release of ‘Killer Instinct‘. This track explores Saibhin’s new found faith and desire for a better, more loving world while also realising her fierceness and lays down her boundaries with people. ‘Killer Instinct’ has a heavy drum pattern matched with intricate visuals and is enriched with saxophone.

The creation of ‘Killer Instinct’ has allowed Saibhin to explore and fully find herself as she progresses into this new phase of her of life. She now knows how she wants to live her life going forward. The lyrics of the bridge says “I live for love, I live for us, I live for all the ones we’ve lost” and that, she does.

The ethereal and magnetic Saibhin, is a Mexican-Irish singer who’s creating a stir in the Irish music scene. Saibhin’s charisma is described as infectious as she effortlessly flows from one emotionally evoking melody to a symphony full of life, bouncing off of her band – a six piece of Ireland’s most talented upcoming musicians and instrumentalists.

Drawing on both sides of her cultures Saibhin’s music can range anywhere from vocally soothing Sean-nós ballads “as Gaeilge” to Latin Funk and everything in between, creating a multicultural fusion
of music and language.
