Irish alternative artist Monjola makes a striking return with new single ‘Weight On Me’, an emotionally charged release that finds the Dublin-raised creative at his most vulnerable yet.
This song was birthed through collaboration with close friends Saint De Marcus and Dan Briskin, the track balances introspective song-writing with soulful melodies and understated production. Written during a period of emotional turbulence, ‘Weight On Me’ serves as a reflection on self-worth, resilience, overthinking, and the burden of carrying unresolved emotions.
Monjola explains:
“Everything in my head felt loud and unresolved when I wrote this song,”
“It came out almost like a diary entry or a voice note to someone I didn’t fully trust yet. It sits somewhere between a confession and an internal argument with myself.”

Rather than relying on traditional percussion, the track’s rhythmic foundation began with Monjola striking a table in the studio, recorded on an iPhone before being manipulated and transformed by Dan in Ableton. Born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised in Dublin, Monjola’s musical journey has been shaped by a broad palette of influences, from church music and indie rock to alternative soul and hip-hop.
