Alternative hip hop duo Caleb & Walshy Shine a Light on Men’s Mental Health with Powerful EP set for release November 13th

November 4, 2024

Alternative hip hop duo Caleb & Walshy announce their new EP My Mates, a three-track collection addressing men’s mental health, suicide, and the importance of speaking out. Releasing during Men’s Health Awareness Month, the EP is a raw, confessional journey encouraging men to open up and seek support.

The title track, My Mates, is a heartfelt plea inspired by Caleb & Walshy’s experiences with their closest friends. It highlights the struggle of prioritising emotional well-being over material success, urging listeners to focus on community and friendship instead of isolation. Patrick Bateman, named after the infamous fictional character, tackles the concept of hiding behind a facade. It reflects the struggles men face in presenting a calm exterior while masking internal chaos, especially in the corporate world.

The EP’s final track, Inside Outside, completes the emotional arc, offering a confessional look at internal battles many men face. Walshy’s production mirrors the emotional intensity of the lyrics with a bold and unsettling beat. Lyrics like, “We’ve all gotta live, gotta die, that’s why I’m not phased by suicide running through my mind… You can’t say all that if you’re a man round here,” emphasise resilience, mental health, and real conversations. “We wanted to close the EP with Inside Outside because it’s the most vulnerable track,” says Caleb. “It’s about reaching out, even when everything inside is screaming not to, and showing that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.”

The EP will be released on November 13th.
