After more than a decade of living and creating on Bundjalung Country in so-called Australia, renowned Irish singer-songweaver and truth-teller Áine Tyrrell makes her powerful return to live permanently in the West of Ireland with her new single and live video, SINGING OUR WAY HOME.

A homecoming anthem already resonating with audiences, SINGING OUR WAY HOME is a powerful sonic journey of connection, healing, and belonging. The song calls us back through music and collective remembering, carrying the weight of every migrant, exile, and anyone seeking their way home.

As Ireland continues to reckon with its own stories of emigration, identity, and political voice, Áine’s return and this single offer a timely reflection on home, resistance, and rootedness. It is both medicine and weapon for our times. Áine doesn’t just sing of home; she builds it, note by note, for all of us finding our way back to land, to self, and to community.

A RETURN ROOTED IN RESISTANCE: Áine’s journey home was not one of retreat, but rising. Years ago, escaping domestic violence, she bought a bus, took to the road with her children, and built a courageous creative life through music and truth on her own terms. An outspoken voice for justice, she continued to use her platform to speak truth including calling out the genocide in Palestine – a stance that brought intense personal and professional backlash.

“Standing up for human rights has always been part of who I am. It’s woven into my upbringing and my art. I was raised by a musician father where art and activism went hand in hand. Speaking up for Palestine was simply part of life. I had no idea how deep Zionist influence ran in the arts and other sectors [in Australia].”

A HOMECOMING IN SONG: Áine’s first Irish performance upon returning was at Hibernacle Festival in the stunning surrounds of Orlagh House, Dublin, where she shared the bill with Wallis Bird, Lisa Hannigan, Ye Vagabonds, and others. It marked the beginning of a new flow, deeply rooted in land, music, and her unshakable belief in community care through song.

THE ALBUM AHEAD: The single leads into Áine’s third album, MISE ÉIRE, out in early 2026, her most personal, potent, and politically charged yet.

“MISE ÉIRE is the album I’ve carried in my bones. A love letter to what it means to be a modern Irish woman. It was sparked by a tweet I received from Sinéad O’Connor, one of the most powerful embodiments of Éire we’ve ever known.”

ABOUT THE SINGLE: SINGING OUR WAY HOME, co-written by Áine Tyrrell and Leah Manaema Avene, is reclamation in song, a reminder that even across oceans, our stories and spirit survive. In a world where diaspora often means forgetting, Áine sings of remembering. The song emerged from deep dialogue between the two artists, who share lived experience across land-back and Indigenous sovereignty movements.

Leah’s own exploration of her Irish roots while living on stolen land sparked the collaboration. Together, they created not just a song, but a medicine in voice with the power to stitch names back to the lands that named them, and to weave people back into their songlines.

‘SINGING OUR WAY HOME’ will be followed in late August, ahead of Áine’s Electric Picnic appearance, by an online focussed single ‘BITSEACH’ (Irish for ‘Bitch’), which will show another side of her musical personality.

ÁINE SAYS:

“There are 80 million members of the Irish diaspora scattered across the world; I’ve been one of them. This song is for all of us who’ve had to leave, and all of us trying to find our way back. Now, as I return home to Ireland with my family, the song has become something we live, a daily act of remembering. And in times like these, that remembering goes beyond the personal. It’s a collective call; a reclaiming not just for Ireland, but for all people finding their way back to land, to language, to truth.”

ABOUT THE LIVE VIDEO: Filmed as a sonic circle of song and belonging, SINGING OUR WAY HOME was born across Bundjalung and Kulin Lands, co-written by Áine Tyrrell and Leah Manaema Avene, and first performed with Leah’s family in Naarm.

As a final offering before Áine’s return to Ireland, they reunited with beloved collaborators on Kulin Country to record this special live version, captured using binaural sound to draw the listener directly into the circle. The performance follows a powerful community video woven from fan-submitted footage across Ireland, Palestine, Turtle Island, and beyond, a living patchwork of people, land, and story echoing the global search for home.

ABOUT THE ALBUM: Áine’s upcoming album MISE ÉIRE embodies the strength and resilience of Ireland through the lens of a woman who had to emigrate and thrive with the strength of her ancestors.

Inspired by the late Sinéad O’Connor’s words “Mise Éire” (meaning “I Am Ireland”), the album delves into the layers of trauma, healing, and connection that define modern Irish women across the globe. This album is a call to awaken the ancient power that resides within us all, and “SINGING OUR WAY HOME” is just the beginning.
