Aine Duffy Returns With New Single ‘Move Along’ Ahead of Album ‘Keep Her Lit’

August 13, 2024

Renowned Cork-based singer-songwriter Áine Duffy is set to release her latest single, “Move Along,” this Friday, August 16th. Known for her powerful voice, unique style, and innovative approach to music, Áine Duffy continues to push boundaries with her electrifying new track—a drum and bass belter infused with a rockin’ riff and a biting sense of humor. “Move Along” is the penultimate release before her upcoming album, “Keep Her Lit,” due out on September 13th.

“Move Along” is a high-energy anthem, laden with sarcasm and fun, aimed at highlighting the glaring money divide contributing to Ireland’s ongoing housing crisis. Áine, who self-built her own passive home and converted a donkey box into a mobile music stage, is no stranger to challenging the status quo. With “Move Along,” she channels her frustration and creativity into a track that’s as thought-provoking as it is catchy.

“The excuses around the housing crisis drive me bonkers,” Áine explains. “I built my own tiny home solo, so I know it can be done with very little. This song is for everyone who feels the same frustration.”

Áine Duffy’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Over the pandemic, she made waves by converting an old donkey box into a camper and mobile stage, affectionately dubbed the Duffbox. The innovative Duffbox became a beacon of hope and joy during tough times, earning Áine widespread media coverage and accolades, including appearances on Nuacht, IRELAND AM, 2FM, Today FM, RTE 1, BBC, and more. Her creative approach led to awards that saw her touring Direct Provision centres and DEIS schools across the country.

Now, Áine is turning the Duffbox into Duffbox 2.0—a project aimed at providing artist accommodation on tour and offering a pop-up outreach stage in every county in Ireland. This initiative directly tackles the housing and cost-of-living crises, showcasing Áine’s commitment to using her platform for social good.

Her vibrant live shows have captivated audiences from LA to Antwerp, earning her the International Touring Award in 2023. Áine will be performing at Electric Picnic 2024 in the Global Green area, where she’ll also be popping up her “Tits Up” tent—encouraging festival-goers to take home their plastic waste in a humorous and engaging way.

Following the release of her album “Keep Her Lit” on September 13th, Áine will kick off a nationwide tour with stops including Fennelly’s in Callan, Kilkenny on September 14th, and Culture Night at Bandon Town Hall on September 20th. In 2025, she plans to bring the Duffbox 2.0 to every county in Ireland.

Áine Duffy’s music, wit, and relentless drive have earned her praise from industry heavyweights, with Cormac Ó hEadhra of RTE Drivetime stating, “The world needs more Áine Duffy.” Her quirky style and powerhouse vocals have also been lauded by Tony Fenton of Today FM, NME’s James Hendicot, and Hotpress.

Don’t miss the release of “Move Along” this Friday, August 16th—an unforgettable track from an artist who is truly one of a kind.
