2022’s Most Played Irish Female Artist on Irish Radio, Aimee returns with breakup single ‘Hurt Like Hell’

February 10, 2023

After a momentous 2022, which saw her become the most played Irish female artist at radio, Aimée is back with an empowering new single ‘Hurt Like Hell’. This ultimate break up song is out now, via Universal Music Ireland.

Of this release, Aimée says, “I wanted to write a song that tempts every person to grab and sing into their hairbrush, throw their middle finger in the air and scream IT’S GONNA HURT LIKE HELL!”.

And that, she has done! As if flying between Sweden and LA to write and record new music, playing to a sold-out headline show at Dublin’s Academy, a debut regional tour, a Late Late Show TV performance and signing an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with BDi music wasn’t enough for one year, Aimée also claimed position as the highest Irish female artist on the 2022 radio chart, being the most played and most reached female artist, with hit single ‘Nobody Else’. (#13)The hit also graced Spotify’s New Pop UK, New Pop Revolution, A Breath Of Fresh Eire, Equal UK+IE and OBSESSED editorials, while Apple boasted the track in ‘Todays Hits’ IE (Apples biggest playlist) and New Music Daily.

“The enormous support we received across the board from Irish radio really was a game changer on our last release. It shows what results can be achieved when you have a label team like ours at Universal, who are committed to artist development – and a media landscape in Ireland ready to support our homegrown artists.” Gill Dooley, Artist Manager – Aimée

Now ready to take 2023 by storm, the talented 27-year-old’s first release of the year ‘Hurt Like Hell’ is an impowering anthem for those who need to take the power back from those who have hurt them. I wanted to write a song for people going through heartbreak and hope it might give them a little spark of confidence when they hear it.”

Written and recorded with her “dream team” consisting of Nick Jarl (Westlife, Loreen), Richey McCourt (Will Young, TINI) and Swedish icon Joakim Berg (Zara Larsson, Avicii), ‘Hurt Like Hell’ see’s Dublin native Aimée truly find her voice and deliver something very special. Her lyrical and vocal vulnerability pulls you in, as the suspenseful beat builds to a chorus that’s fit to scream along to in a car with the windows down.

Aimée is also part of the Irish Women In Harmony collective, whose first single ‘Dreams’ received over 5 million streams on Spotify and made history as the first female act to hold the number one spot on the Official Homegrown Irish Chart. Since then, she has been a champion for Irish women’s voices in an industry dominated by men. This passion has bled into her music, saying that her latest track ‘Hurt Like Hell’ is ultimate song for “those of you who are done being walked all over”.
