When you pay for a music licence from IMRO, you’re directly supporting the creators behind the music you use in your business.
After a small deduction to cover administrative costs (approximately 14%), all of the remaining royalties are distributed to the songwriters, composers, and music publishers whose music you’ve played. These payments ensure that the creators are fairly compensated for their work, allowing them to continue making the music that enhances your customer and employee experiences.
IMRO operates as a not-for-profit organisation, which means our primary goal is to ensure that music creators are rewarded for the use of their work. We use sophisticated tracking and reporting systems, along with usage data from businesses and broadcasters, to ensure royalties are distributed as accurately and fairly as possible.
By obtaining a music licence, your business isn’t just complying with copyright law—you’re playing a meaningful role in sustaining Ireland’s vibrant music industry and supporting the livelihood of music creators.
