Starting out as an experiment among three Belfast friends to challenge each other musically, Airies Air (sic) quickly developed into a passion project for all three members.
The band has been playing out in pubs, clubs, and other venues around Ireland, their sound began to change for the weirder. Attempting to push past the boundaries of contemporary song writing, they have become known for odd time signatures, cross rhythms, complex verses, and soaring choruses.
Their debut single ‘Elsewhere’, though still in its infancy, has already begun to generate notable attention and early praise from listeners and industry tastemakers alike.
Described by Mark McGrogan of Rock N Load Mag 2026:
“(Elsewhere) A slow burner, it has a heavy feel, not only in its gnarly sound but also in the weight of the subject matter and how they carry the song… It’s great to see a band with real intent in their song-writing and the ability to translate that to the live stage as well”.
This single was then followed up by their track ‘Kaiju’, an ambitious 8 minute monster which leans heavily into experimental territory building tension throughout the whole tune.
The trio band features John Ferris on the guitar, Kevin Cormac Lenaghan on bass and vocals and Michael Smith on Percussion.
The band’s new single ‘The Wedge’ is out Today, 13th of August and is a chronicle of the ravages of neurological degeneration, the helplessness that affects the families of sufferers, and the emotional toll of the decisions that must be made around them and without them.

The track was recorded, mixed and mastered at Manor Park Studio. ‘The Wedge’ is a mix of soft ballad and sharp edges, the music follows the chaotic internal journey of someone losing themselves, and the evolving external pressures that can crush those around them.
The trio bands next live show will be headlining Woven Festival at the BT Blue & Rock Club, Ballymena this Saturday, 15 August 2026.
