Membership Agreements

Membership Agreements

Becoming a member of IMRO involves entering into a legal agreement that assigns specific rights to us for administration on your behalf. These agreements ensure that we can effectively license, collect, and distribute royalties for the use of your music.

What You’re Agreeing To

The IMRO Membership Agreement becomes effective only once your application is approved. Under this agreement:

  • Writer Members assign their performing rights and film synchronisation rights to IMRO.
  • Publisher Members assign their performing rights for the works they publish.

This assignment allows IMRO to manage these rights worldwide, unless you request specific exclusions.

Important: If you are uncertain about how this assignment may impact your ability to manage your copyright, we strongly recommend seeking independent legal advice before signing.

Territorial and Rights Exclusions

By default, the rights you assign to IMRO are managed on a worldwide basis. However, you may exclude:

Specific countries/territories

Certain categories of rights

These exclusions must be clearly indicated at the time of your application.
