Checklist: How to Apply for IMRO Membership

Joining IMRO is a straightforward process. To become a Writer Member, you’ll need to complete our Writer Member Application/Agreement and submit supporting documentation as outlined below.

The Member Agreement includes the assignment of specific rights in your musical works to IMRO and will only take effect once your application has been approved. If you’re unsure about any aspect of the agreement, we recommend seeking legal advice before signing.


Are You Eligible?

To qualify for IMRO writer membership, you must meet at least one of the following criteria and provide supporting evidence:

Option A: Commercial Release

At least one of your original musical works has been commercially released.
Proof required: A link, screenshot, or photocopy showing your work is available for download or streaming, or a CD inlay with a barcode/catalogue number and your name credited as composer/author.

Option B: Broadcast

At least one of your musical works has been broadcast within the last two years.
Proof required: A letter on official letterhead from the radio or TV producer/presenter confirming your music was broadcast.

Option C: Live Performance

At least one of your works has been performed live in public at least 12 times in the past two years.
Proof required: A letter on headed paper from a venue owner, promoter, or manager confirming your performances.


Before You Apply

Please ensure you have the following ready to complete your application:

☐ A copy of valid photo ID (e.g. passport, driver’s licence, national ID card)
☐ Evidence that you meet one of the eligibility criteria listed above

Once you have these, you’re ready to begin your application to join a global network of music creators.
