Songwriters in the Round upcoming event

March 10, 2015

SongwriterRound_120315_POSTER-FinalFor anyone who enjoys music and great songs, Songwriters in the Round is an absolute treat. This month in the stunning Archer Room at Hole in the Wall – Sean Millar (AKA Doctor Miller), Eamonn O’Connor (Lucky Bones), and Ed Romanoff will play in the captivating ‘in the round’ format, taking turns to play from a special selection of their work, to share stories of songwriting and the origin of their songs.

Ed Romanoff’s appearance had to be kept under wraps until this week and Songwriters in the Round are thrilled to finally announce the multi award-winning American songwriter will be part of this month’s event as part of his 2015 Irish tour.  Ed’s 2012 award winning self-titled debut was a Roots Radio Top 100 in the US and ranked as high as number 12 on the European Americana Charts. Eds’ stories range from staring down a shotgun barrel, to cattle branding in Wyoming, to finding out he’s not actually Russian as he’d always believed, but is in fact Irish.

Sean Millar’s first solo album The Bitter Lie was voted one of the Best Irish Albums of all time by both Today FM and The Sunday Tribune. He was nominated best Solo Performer alongside Van Morrison, Paul Brady and Gavin Friday in the Hotpress Awards. His second Album The Deal was voted one of Sunday Times top five albums of the year and has since been included in Tony Clayton Lea’s defining “101 Irish albums you must hear before you die”. His third album “Always coming home”, prompted The Irish Times, in its five star review, to proclaim him “An Irish national treasure”, while his fourth album ‘Of The People’ had critics calling him “Irelands greatest lyricist”. As a composer for Theatre, Sean Millar has gained widespread international acclaim and as an actor he played a supporting role in the Oscar-winning film ‘Once’.

Lucky Bones aka Eamonn O’Connor is a definitive member of the storytelling breed of songwriters. A troubadour who has for more than ten years been tirelessly touring across Europe and the USA in between releasing two records (“Together We Are All Alone” 2011 and “Someone’s Son 2013”) and releasing a brand new EP “Blessed” at the beginning of 2015. His sound has met with critical acclaim both at home and abroad. With comparisons made to Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Townes Van Zandt and Tom Waits.

Join Songwriters in the Round’s very special guests and host Martin Bridgeman on Thursday 12th March at Hole in the Wall in High Street, Kilkenny (entrance alongside Enable Ireland shop). Doors open at 8.30pm for a 9pm start.  Tickets are just 7 Euro on the door.
