Each year, Other Voices provides a TV and online platform for a collection of emerging musicians and bands in the IMRO Other Room. Speaking of their Other Room partnership IMRO Chief Executive Victor Finn said: “Other Voices takes a significant step forward this year with its expansion from Dingle to Derry – Londonderry and London. IMRO is delighted to be once again part of this unique and special gathering of songwriting and performing talent. IMRO has a strong reputation as a champion and supporter of new music creation and the IMRO Other Room provides the perfect platform for this. Series 11 promises to be yet another exceptional year for Other Voices”.

This year’s IMRO Other Room will feature a number of new Irish bands, as well as artists from Derry – Londonderry and the UK, to reflect the branching out of Other Voices to new homes in Derry-Londonderry in February and London in April of next year. Applications for a performance slot in the IMRO Other Room reach beyond the 1,000 mark each year, making scheduling an enormously difficult task for the producers. This year, Other Voices have made the decision to give music fans the opportunity to select the artist for the final IMRO Other Room slot.

Other Voices invites artists of all genres to submit a YouTube video (it can be a video or a still image with audio) for consideration. All video applications should be sent via the submisson form on the Other Voices website. Each video submitted will be loaded onto the ‘Other Room Open Call’ page at www.othervoices.ie, where it can be viewed by Other Voices fans across the world. Artists will have until Monday November 19th to submit their link.

After this time, each video will be considered and the entries will be whittled down to a shortlist of approximately twenty, which will then be handed over to a music industry panel from Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK and their three top picks will be announced. Other Voices fans will then have a few days to like their favourite artist on the Other Voices YouTube Channel. The band shown the most love by voting fans will take a slot at the IMRO Other Room in Dingle. There will be a similar opportunity for bands to take part in Other Room events in Derry-Londonderry and London.

Speaking of the announcement, Series Editor Philip King said “Each year, we are inundated with a wealth of incredible young artists wishing to take part in the IMRO Other Room. We shoot this element of Other Voices over one, very long day, taking in as many acts as we can over a multitude of genres. The footage from this shoot is then added to the final Other Voices TV mix and broadcast across the world on a host of platforms. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to support and nurture fresh new music and a great chance for emerging artists to be seen and heard by a significant global audience. This year, we are delighted to engage with Other Voices fans and invite them to allocate the last IMRO Other Room slot to the band of their choice. All submitted videos will be featured on the Other Voices website for the duration of the Open Call, giving new artists exposure to the many thousands of music fans who visit our site each week”.
