IMRO is delighted to partner with 1dB Artist Development, offering two IMRO Bursaries for artists to participate in this unique and empowering programme.
Founded by acclaimed Irish artist Ryan Sheridan, 1dB provides personalised, one-on-one support tailored to the individual needs of artists at every stage of their creative journey, whether emerging or established. Based within the inspiring surroundings of the Irish Institute of Music and Song in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, 1dB was created to nurture creativity, confidence, and well-being in a pressure-free, supportive environment.
“Through 1dB, I hope to create a meaningful impact, providing artists with the time, space, and support they need to thrive in an industry that often overlooks the importance of personal and artistic development,” says Ryan Sheridan. “1dB is an independent venture, created out of necessity, mentored by experience, and driven by a genuine desire to support artists.”
About the 1dB Programme
1dB offers a holistic approach to artist development, focusing on creativity, performance, songwriting, and production. Mentoring is tailored to each artist’s specific needs, covering only the areas most relevant to their growth. These areas can Include:
Creative Reflection & Confidence Building
- Open, guided discussions to reconnect with your purpose and passion as an artist
- Techniques to foster resilience and well-being in the creative process
- A confidential, industry-informed space for growth and reflection
Performance Support
- In-depth evaluation of live or recorded performances
- Guidance to enhance stage presence and audience connection
- Confidence-building tools
Songwriting Development
- Exploration of lyrical, melodic, and arrangement ideas
- Support in overcoming creative blocks
- Collaborative inspiration to refine your unique voice
Pre-Production & Production
- Development of arrangements and production concepts that amplify artistic vision
- Reference recording sessions designed to capture progress and authenticity
IMRO 1dB Bursaries
To support the professional development of songwriters and performing artists, IMRO is offering two bursaries that will cover participation in the 1dB Artist Development Programme.
Each IMRO Bursary includes:
- Full participation in the 1dB programme
- one-on-one mentorship sessions with Ryan Sheridan.
- Access to professional resources for your artistic development.
How to Apply
To apply for an IMRO Bursary, please submit the following by Thursday, 20th November:
- A short biography outlining your artistic background and current creative projects
- A brief statement (max 300 words) on how participation in the 1dB Artist Development Programme would benefit your artistic journey
- Links to two samples of your original music (audio or video)
