The International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) has today, May 28th, released its 2026 Annual Report. CISAC is the leading network of Authors’ societies and represent over 5 million creators via 228 members in 111 countries.

In a year in which the global rules governing creativity began to shift, CISAC’s 2026 Annual Report highlights its response to accelerating debates on AI and copyright while also advancing creator remuneration campaigns. Throughout the past year, CISAC has consistently engaged in specific AI policy discussions across regional, national and international markets.

CISAC President and ABBA co-founder Björn Ulvaeus commented on the issue stating, “The rules governing human creativity are being written now. If transparency and fair remuneration are not built into AI systems from the start, creators everywhere will face the consequences.”

Other key takeaways from the report discuss the strengthening of the ISWC system and its services, alongside the significant growth in CISAC’s global communications and creator engagement.

The release of CISAC’s 2026 Annual Report falls exactly a week before the confederation celebrates its 100-year anniversary. On Thursday, June 4th, CISAC will mark 100 years since its founding in Paris 1926, with a general assembly to be held at the Pavillion Cambon in Paris. The event will bring together over 300 participants including global leaders from the creative industries, collective management organisers and policy makers from around the world.
