The IMRO Stage at INDIE22 | Ailsha

July 28, 2022

Self-described ‘pink-haired pop-goth with a name that’s a pain to pronounce’, AILSHA (El-sha) writes about things in life that we should all laugh- rather than cry- about. Her witty lyrics and signature sound have been described as ‘horror Disney’, a statement which she believes is her crowning achievement to date. AILSHA has been voted as one of the country’s ‘Most Promising’ and ‘Ground-Breaking Female Artists’ in Hot Press Magazine’s Hotties 2022 Awards. She is the official composer for Big Brother: The Game.

Ailsha makes her festival debut this weekend at Indiependence, playing the IMRO Stage. We asked her about what we can expect;

Is this your first time playing at INDIE?
Yes! In fact, playing at INDIE will be my first proper festival debut.

When can people see you on the IMRO Stage?
I will be kicking off the day on Saturday 30th at 4:15pm.

What should we expect?
A sassy, silly rock set with a sprinkle of pink- and a pinch of emo revival.

Which of the other acts are you hoping to catch live this weekend?
There are so many amazing and diverse acts playing Indie that it’s impossible to pick and choose, though I hope to catch a bit of everyone’s set.

What’s next for you?
I am currently manifesting a series of songs which I hope to release over the coming year. I regularly host a songwriter showcase in Zampas in The Hard Rock Hotel which has become an exciting night in Dublin for live music. Gig-wise I’m looking to branch out of Dublin for a bit more inter-county adventuring.. watch this space!

Make sure to catch Ailsha live at INDIE22, on Saturday July 30th at 4:15pm on the IMRO Stage.

INDIE22 takes place in Mitchelstown on the Bank Holiday Weekend of July 29-31.
