IMRO and Dublin Airport Launch T2: Sounds of Home – A Weekly Music Showcase Live from Terminal 2
The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and Dublin Airport are delighted to announce the launch of T2: Sounds of Home, a new weekly live music showcase that shines a spotlight on emerging local musicians. This exciting initiative, kicking off today and taking place every Friday throughout October, is designed to celebrate Ireland’s vibrant music scene by offering a dynamic platform for local talent to perform at one of the country’s most prominent international gateways.
With performances taking place in Terminal 2’s Arrivals and Departures Halls, T2: Sounds of Home features a diverse lineup of musicians, representing a range of genres from traditional to contemporary styles. The initiative is rooted in a shared mission between IMRO and Dublin Airport to support and elevate the incredible homegrown talent that defines Ireland’s cultural identity.
A Platform for Local Talent:
At the heart of T2: Sounds of Home is a commitment to providing emerging local musicians with a high-visibility platform. By showcasing these artists to a diverse, international audience, the initiative seeks to open doors to new opportunities, both at home and abroad. IMRO members will have the chance to perform in a bustling, global setting, where their music can resonate with travellers from all corners of the world.
“T2: Sounds of Home is a celebration of the incredible musical talent we have in Ireland,” said Breffni Banks, IMRO Marketing & Membership Manager. “This initiative provides emerging musicians with an invaluable platform to reach new audiences and share their work on an international stage, all while enhancing the traveller experience at Dublin Airport. We’re proud to help create an atmosphere that truly reflects the richness of Ireland’s musical culture.”
Creating a Vibrant Cultural Atmosphere:
Beyond supporting artists, the T2: Sounds of Home initiative is also about creating an enriching, authentic cultural experience for passengers passing through Dublin Airport. Live music performances will welcome travellers with the sounds of Ireland, making their arrival or departure a memorable one. It’s an opportunity to immerse visitors in the essence of Irish creativity from the moment they step foot in the airport.
According to Graeme McQueen, Head of Media Relations at daa, the operator of Dublin Airport: “At Dublin Airport, we’re all about the special welcome. Tens of thousands of people walk through our doors every single day and you see every kind of emotion in our terminals, from tearful goodbyes to happy reunions and everything in between. What better soundtrack to all that taking place than some of Ireland’s best up-and-coming music artists. We’re thrilled to be teaming up with IMRO to bring live music into T2 for the month of October and we think passengers are going to love hearing great music every Friday as they move through the airport.”
