As part of Dublin Pride, IMRO is hosting a live panel discussion bringing together LGBTQ+ artists, industry professionals and creatives to explore the evolving landscape of queer culture in Irish music.
Featuring moderator Pamela Connolly and guest speakers Bobbi Arlo, Maja Ertzbischoff, Kenya Dempsey and Michal Mencnarowski.
Centered around this year’s Pride theme, “One Story – Many Voices”, the event recognises that there is no single LGBTQ+ experience. Instead, it highlights the diverse identities, perspectives and lived realities that shape music and culture today, from artists and performers to those working behind the scenes.
Through an open and engaging conversation, the panel will explore:
- Representation and visibility in Irish music
- The role of identity in creative expression
- The cultural importance of nightlife spaces
- The challenges and opportunities facing LGBTQ+ voices today
- Where queer culture in Ireland is heading next
This event is designed to be more than just a panel discussion, it aims to amplify authentic and diverse voices across the Irish music community, to create space for honest, lived experiences, alongside positive progress and success stories. In addition it will seek to encourage meaningful conversation around inclusion, beyond surface-level visibility and highlight the role of music and nightlife as spaces for community, identity and expression
Lastly, we hope that it will spark dialogue on how the industry can better support LGBTQ+ creators
Ultimately, the goal is for attendees to leave with a deeper understanding of queer culture in Irish music today, a sense of connection and visibility for artists and audiences and some practical insight into how the industry can move towards more genuine inclusion
