Rory McPartland

Music Publishers

Rory McPartland is a seasoned industry professional with over 30 years of experience across music publishing, licensing, and music supervision. His career began with the UK-based band Mike TV, signed to Almo Sounds and Rondor Music Publishing.

After the band’s dissolution, Rory moved to New York, where he worked in EMI Music Publishing’s licensing department. He played a key role in licensing songs from the EMI catalog to major film studios such as DreamWorks, 20th Century Fox, Sony, Universal and MGM. In 2012, Rory transitioned to Spirit Music Group in New York as the sole worldwide license administrator, managing license drafting for a prestigious catalog that included artists such as Pete Townshend, Marc Bolan, Charles Mingus and Graham Nash. However, it is Rory’s founding of Tremolo Music Publishing in 2014 that has become his central focus.

Returning to Ireland, he continued his work with Spirit while developing Tremolo, which has since become a prominent music publisher. Tremolo represents a diverse roster of songwriters, focusing on synchronization opportunities, songwriting collaborations and composing for film and television. Under Rory’s leadership, Tremolo has achieved significant success in the sync licensing space, securing high-profile placements such as Katie Kim’s “Day Is Coming” in the worldwide trailer for Netflix’s Wild Wild Country, and Winter Aid’s “The Wisp Sings” in Google’s Look To Speak commercial campaign in the US. Additionally, Tremolo hosts an annual songwriting retreat in County Leitrim, an initiative that has become a key platform for nurturing emerging songwriting talent.

Tremolo’s continued growth is a testament to Rory’s deep industry knowledge and commitment to creating opportunities for songwriters. Beyond Tremolo, Rory is also a Director at Planet of Sound, a music supervision company. Recent projects include An Irish Goodbye, The Apprentice, The Gone, Mix Tape, Four Mothers, and upcoming films Soulm8te and Saipan.
