Solitaire recording studio is a residential based professional recording facility situated in Kingscourt, Cavan, Ireland.
The studio is owned and run by head engineer and IMRO member, Alan Whelan who has over 32 years’ experience as a professional recording engineer.
We specialise in recording live musicians/singers, acoustic instruments, trad, folk, etc. but work in all genres.
The studio itself comprises of a spacious control room bathed in natural daylight, a balanced acoustic live room, deadened acoustic room and a large grand piano room.
The control room houses a large selection of valve and solid-state preamps, compressors and outboard effects from brands including AMS/Neve, TL Audio, DBX, Avalon, Eventide, Lexicon, TC Electronics & Yamaha.
Solitaire has an extensive mic selection including all the industry standard brands such as Neumann, Audio Technica, AKG, Earthworks, Shure, Sennheiser, Rode, Oktava etc.
We also have a selection of quality instruments available including a beautiful Kawai RX-3 grand piano, several keyboards from Emu, Korg, Kawai, Roland, Kurzweil and virtual instruments from Spectrasonics.
Acoustic/electric/bass guitars from Fender, Takemine, Cordoba, Jackson and Ibanez.
We have an in-house Violin/Viola player (Ella Haluk Whelan) and a huge list of session musicians that we can recommend to cover any instrument.
The studio offers recording, mixing, and mastering at the facility and live location recording in Ireland.
Remote mixing and mastering are also available if a client can’t physically travel to the studio.
